Rail Travel

Outward: Depart St Pancras International station, change stations in Paris and arrive in Bordeaux late afternoon. Transfer to Saint Emilion included (40 mins).

Return: Transfer to Barsac or Langon station, train to Bordeaux. Depart Bordeaux mid-morning, change stations in Paris and arrive in St Pancras International station late afternoon.

    • Arrival Bordeaux
    • Transfer to St Emilion. Time to take a stroll through this historic town, with its fascinating Romanesque churches stretching along steep and narrow streets. Dinner in your hotel. HB
    • Day trip to the vineyards of St Emilion
    • Walk amongst the prestigious châteaux of the area, with a tasting at the small domain of Château Clos de la Madeleine. The vineyards are beautiful - the first non-architectural spot to be classified as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. BB
    • Discovering St Emilion
    • A morning tour of the medieval town will take you to its underground monuments, amphitheatre and monolithic church carved from limestone. A wine tasting initiation by an oenologistawats you in the afternoon, followed by a transfer to your delightful chambre d'hôte in St Martin de Lerm. HB
    • Saint Martin de Lerm to Caudrot
    • Between the Dordogne and Garonne rivers, walk through the oldest vineyards of the area, which produce the excellent, dry white wine of Entre-Deux-Mers. Visit and tasting at the Domaine de Bouillerot (wine producer since 1874). HB
    • Caudrot to Saint Macaire
    • Relaxed walking through vineyards, via châteaux and picturesque villages. You finish in the old merchant town of Saint-Macaire. Be sure to see the 14th century murals in the St. Sauveur church. Perhaps take a dip in the pool before dinner. HB
    • Saint Macaire to Sainte Croix du Mont
    • This walk takes you to the Domaine de Malagar, home of the writer François Mauriac, then a visit to Château Laurette, before reaching the village of Sainte Croix du Mont, with spectacular views of the Garonne valley. Transfer to your beautiful 4 star Château-hotel in Sauternes. HB
    • Sauternes to Barsac
    • The Sauternes area produces renowned sweet wines, such as the world-famous Château d’Yquem! A late afternoon rendez-vous awaits you for an apéritif tasting at the Château Gravas. Final night and dinner at the Château de Campreros. HB
