Rail Travel

Outward: Depart St Pancras International station, change stations in Paris and trains at St Pierre des Corps arrive Montrichard late afternoon transfer to hotel included (5 mins).

Return: Transfers to Blois station included (45 mins), change trains at St Pierre des Corps and stations in Paris. Arrive St Pancras International station late afternoon.

    • Below is the full 8 night holiday itinerary. If choosing the 6 night holiday, your first night will be in Amboise (day 3) and walking begins from there the following morning.
  • Day 1 Arrival Montrichard
    • Settle in at your friendly hotel in the little riverside town of Montrichard and enjoy a typical French meal that evening.
  • Day 2 Montrichard to Chenonceaux - 6 miles (9.6km)
    • After exploring the market town of Montrichard you’ll follow the banks of the River Cher to Chenonceaux, arriving in time to explore the stunning Château.
  • Day 3 Chenonceaux to Amboise - 11 miles (17.6km)
    • A shady walk through the forêt d’Amboise will bring you out across farmland as you approach Amboise. You’ll pass the manor house where Leonardo da Vinci spent his final years. Your stay in Amboise is B&B - good choice of restaurants.
  • Day 4 Amboise to Chaumont - 6 miles (9.6km)
    • A little sightseeing then you’re transferred to Mosnes. From here it’s woodland and iverbanks followed by farmland and vineyards until you reach your hotel in Chaumont.
  • Day 5 Chaumont to Candé sur Beuvron - 5 miles (8km)
    • Spend your morning visiting the famous château and gardens. Then it’s on to Candé and tonight’s comfortable hotel.
  • Day 6 Candé sur Beuvron to Chitenay - 10 miles (16km)
    • At Les Montils pick up the ingredients for an al fresco lunch then head off through woodland, fields, and a vintner’s yard to Chitenay.
  • Day 7 Chitenay to Cour Cheverny - 6.5 miles (10.4km)
    • An easy walk through fields and woodland to the spectacular hunting château at Cheverny. Tonight’s hotel has an elegant dining room serving traditional French cuisine.
  • Day 8 Cour Cheverny to Chambord - 11 miles (17.6km)
    • The hotel at Chambord is approached through vast parklands - a beautiful and fitting end to your exploration of the Loire.
