Rail Travel

Outward: Depart St Pancras International station, change stations in Paris, arrive Laval station mid-afternoon.Transfer to hotel included (25 mins).

Return: Transfer to Laval station included (25 mins), change stations in Paris, arrive St Pancras International station late afternoon.

  • Day 1 Arrival Saulges
    • Arrive in Saulges at the charming 3* Hôtel l’Hermitage settle into your room and then relax by the pool. Perhaps take an aperitif on the terrace before dinner.
  • Day 2 Day trip from Saulges - 19 miles (30.4km)
    • Take a spin down to Ballée and visit the beautiful château with its watermill and gardens. On the return journey the château and watermill at Thevalles are worth a closer look.
  • Day 3 Saulges to Mézangers - 21 miles (33.6km)
    • The pretty route follows the l’Erve to Chammes and the chance for a refreshing drink. The highlight is the beautiful fortified village of Sainte Suzanne. Then wind past farms and streams to the 3-star Relais du Gué de Selles.
  • Day 4 Day trip from Mézangers - 16 miles (25.6km)
    • An easy run through the forest and along a straight road makes a quick trip to the impressive roman ruins at Jublains. Enjoy lunch alfresco by the lake before an easy pedal back to the hotel.
  • Day 5 Mézangers to Loué - 32 miles (51.2km)
    • The route is deeply rural and quiet - quaint little villages provide opportunities for refreshment - apple orchards and the occasional watermill litter the route. At the delightful Hôtel Ricordeau, a former coach house, it may be tempting to take a dip in the pool. The menu features local produce including the famous Loué poultry.
  • Day 6 Day trip from Loué - 10 miles (16km)
    • Pick up your bike after breakfast and head down to explore the tranquil banks of the River Verge. Or, head off to the Forêt de Charnie. If this sounds a bit too energetic then spend a relaxing day by the hotel pool.
  • Day 7 Loué to Saulges - 15 miles (24km)
    • Today head up the Verge valley to Brulon, maybe stop for a reviving café crème and a chance to buy a picnic lunch. The hilly bit is behind you as you head back to the delightful 3-star Hôtel l’Ermitage. The tour is complete and it’s time to relive some wonderful experiences.

    • L'Ermitage offers a calm and relaxing atmosphere designed to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The cosy, prettily decorated bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped and most have a beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The quiet, little village of Saulges has two churches and of particular interest is the exceptionally beautiful Merovingian (7th century) church. The prehistoric caves on the edge of the village are well worth a visit.
