• Day 1 Arrival Vence, City of Art
  • Arrive at Hotel La Victoire in the centre of Vence and opposite the main entrance to the ancient citadel. Evening free to explore the citadel and its many good restaurants. B&B
• Day 2 Explore Vence on foot - 1 miles (1.6km)
  • Vence is a walled town with 5 medieval gateways that has long attracted artists and still does so. Wander its narrow streets and squares, crammed with galleries, markets, fountains and all things Provençal and visit La Cathédrale with the Chagall mosaic, walk out to Chapelle du Rosaire (creation of Matisse) and art collections in the new Musée Rétif and see the latest at Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs and Château des Seigneurs de Villeneuve, taking in the cafés and restaurants along your way. B&B
• Day 3 Walk to St Paul de Vence - 3 miles (4.8km)
  • Get out into the Provencal countryside for a short walk to the beautiful bastide of St Paul de Vence. Filmstars, writers and painters (Chagall is buried here and Renoir lived nearby) flocked here in the Fifties and Sixties. A favourite haunt has been La Colombe D’Or, which is graced with paintings of grateful artists (including Miro and Picasso) and where you can enjoy a very special lunch or dinner. Visit the excellent collection at the Fondation Maeght, one of the largest of 20th century art and the unbeatable views from this picturesque village. B&B
• Day 4 A day to explore Nice - 11 miles (17.6km)
  • Hop on the bus to the beautiful city of Nice and immerse yourself in the Matisse Museum, the National Chagall Museum, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, the Picasso Museum in nearby Antibes or simply stroll the pretty, narrow streets of the historic old town and fishmarket of Nice. Perhaps you can’t resist the Riviera glamour of Place Massena and Promenade des Anglais? And why not! B&B

The rooms are airy and bright with modern furnishings, a tv, phone and free wifi. They will bring tea and coffee to your room and instead of mini-bars, there is an honesty fridge in reception where you note your room number and what you had.
