Rail Travel
Outward: Depart St Pancras International station, change stations in Paris and trains at St Pierre des Corps, arrive Montrichard or Chenonceaux late afternoon. Transfer to hotel included (5 mins).
Return: Transfer to Montrichard or Chenonceaux station included (5 mins). Change trains at St Pierre des Corps and stations in Paris, arrive St Pancras International station late afternoon.
- Day 1 Arrival Chenonceaux
- After a warm welcome at the 2-star hotel Hostel du Roy in Chenonceaux, stroll through the village before your evening meal in the brasserie style restaurant. HB
- Day 2 Chenonceaux to Amboise - 15 miles (24km)
- Follow the tourist board cycle route along quiet lanes into Amboise, arriving in time for lunch at a pavement café or to visit Leonardo da Vinci’s Clos Lucé manor. Stay two nights B&B in the Hôtel Belle Vue or Hôtel le Blason. B&B
- Day 3 Day trip from Amboise - 30 miles (48km)
Cross the River Loire for a circuit ride to Vouvray, famed for its white wines. Perhaps visit the Château de Valmeror wine tasting at Château Gaudrelle, our partner Vouvray vineyard. B&B
- Day 4 Amboise to Candé - 15 miles (24km)
- Leaving Amboise you soon take to the riverside cycle track taking you to Chaumont for lunch and perhaps visit the International Garden Festival in the Château grounds. It is just a short ride then to the Auberge de Lion d’Or at Candé for two nights half board. HB
- Day 5 Day trip from Candé - 24 miles (38.4km)
- Two options: you can cycle to the Château de Cheverny, with its fabulous interior décor, the inspiration for Moulinsart in the stories of Tin-Tin. Or cycle to Blois, which has a Royal palace open to the public and an interesting Museum of Magic with daily live shows. HB
- Day 6 Candé to Chenonceaux - 30 miles (48km)
- Today your journey back to our base passes through colourful flower-decked villages, interspersed with orchards and vineyards with time to explore Château de Chenonceau. HB
