    • History
    • The Château is infact a square manor house but due to the turreted towers can be called a château. Typical of the mid 19th century style, the château is in fact much older although over the centuries it has been altered. Once the home of the Marquise de Thésut it has now been lovingly restored and offers comfortable and spacious accommodation.
    • Accommodation
    • The château easily accommodates 14 people in its seven individually styled luxury bedrooms each with a splendid ensuite bathroom. The comfortable and welcoming lounge, with patio doors opening out directly onto the pool terrace, has a decorated ceiling ‘à la française’. This and the original oak floor add a touch of authenticity. The light and airy dining room and well equipped kitchen makes it easy to conjour up delicious meals in style and comfort.
    • Heated outdoor pool
    • Spend a lazy day lounging around the pool or dine out on the spacious terrace on balmy summer evenings. Large BBQ is located close to the pool.
    • Gym
    • Visit the first floor gym complete with spacious shower hidden away in the circular tower. Wall mounted TV and DVD player will take your mind off the exercise!
    • Bikes
    • Some bikes are available if you want to pedal through the quiet lanes.
    • Boules
    • Feeling competitive - why not a boules contest between friends - 16 “pétanque” boules can be found at the château.
    • Television
    • There are a number of televisions including a wall mounted screen in the gym with DVD player and a giant screen in the lounge complete with Playstation 3.
    • Board Games
    • a selection of board games - in French - give a great opportunity to improve language skills!
    • A Taste of France - Chef
    • For an unforgettable dining experience arrange your own “chef de cuisine” ... he will arrive around 2pm to serve dinner at 8pm preparing all the food for a sumptuous meal - he is happy for you to “watch” or if you are interested in learning more about French cuisine why not turn it into a cookery course? Typical cost 1400 plus market produce 450/person .

  • Hotel - Chateau de Lans

    • This building is like a tale of two Chateaux. As you approach the Chateau, you see a handsome stone façade, with a pointed tower either side of the main entrance. Then you pass into the garden and look back at the house and you have a handsome maison de maitre with long arched windows and shutters, built in a more modern 18th century style, belying the building's more ancient origins. This lends a great deal of character to the Chateau which sits in a very pretty and sunny garden with flower beds, shrubs and old trees. The setting of the pool right behind the house is ideal for cooking and socialising, as all of the downstairs living rooms open onto its terrace. Then inside, the chateau has a huge amount of charm. The reception rooms have heavy old ceiling beams and due to the large windows are very light and airy. The kitchen is large and accommodating and a purpose built barbecue outside gives plenty of meal options, although hiring the Chateau Chef for an evening should certainly be one of them! The Chateau was renovated and refurbished in 2009 with a huge amount of sympathy for its original character and you will love the central staircase which spirals through the house. There is a superb gym on the first floor, complete with tower - shower! The rest of the upstairs rooms are lovely light and airy bedrooms, each with a characterful ensuite bathroom. It is a lovely, homely house in which to spend a holiday but with wonderful elements of character and comfort. Further afield, it is only about 10 minutes drive of the bustling market town of Chalon sur Saone and many famous Burgundy vineyards ( Mercurey, Cotes de Beaune and Pouilly Fuise for example) and historic towns like Beaune, Tournus and Macon are within very easy reach. If you like the idea of getting out and about by bike or for walking, let us know - we have plenty of suggestions!
