Rail Travel

Outward: Depart St Pancras International station, change at Lille Europe, arrive Avignon late afternoon. Taxi transfer to hotel not included (20 minutes, about 25€).

Return: Transfer to Avignon station included, change trains at Lille Europe, arrive St Pancras International station late evening.

  • Day 1 Arrival Avignon
    • Arrive at the luxurious Hostellerie la Magnaneraie in the suburbs of old Villeneuve-les-Avignon. Explore the old village centre or relax in the hotel garden by the pool.
  • Day 2 Remoulins to Collias - 10 miles (16km)
    • A taxi transfer to Remoulins to start your walk by crossing the river to reach the magnificent Pont du Gard. Take time to explore this Roman monument before continuing on to Collias and Hostellerie le Castellas which has a secluded outdoor pool and Michelin starred restaurant.
  • Day 3 Collias to Tarascon - 8 miles (12.8km)
    • The taxi transfer drops you off to start your walk at Meynes. Passing through Beaucaire you cross the River Rhone into Tarascon and continue south to the hotel Les Mazets des Roches.
  • Day 4 Tarascon to Fontvieille - 5 miles (8km)
    • Pleasant walk through olive groves and woodland to reach Fontvielle with time to visit Château Dublons and the writer Daudet's Windmill. Your destination is the delightful La Régalido an oasis of tranquillity in the centre of this delightful village.
  • Day 5 Fontvieille to Les Baux - 5 miles (8km)
    • Leaving Fontvieille visit Château d’Estoublon and the interesting Olive Boutique. Follow the foothills before climbing to the medieval village of les Baux. Stay tonight in the 5 star luxury spa hotel Le Cabro d'Or.
  • Day 6 Les Baux to St Remy - 6 miles (9.6km)
    • Pay a visit to the Cathedral d'Images before crossing the ridge of the Alpilles followed by an easy descent to St Remy. Your destination, the 5 star luxury spa hotel Le Vallon Vallrugues.
  • Day 7 Day at St Rémy - 8 miles (12.8km)
    • A walk through woodland to the Roman site of Glanum before exploring the narrow streets of St Rémy. Or for the more seasoned walker, a 10 mile walk taking in the ridge of the Alpilles, some near vertical ascents but the views are amazing.
