Outward: Depart St Pancras International station, change at Lille Europe, arrive Avignon late afternoon. Taxi transfer to hotel not included (20 minutes, about 25€).
Return: Transfer to Avignon station included, change trains at Lille Europe, arrive St Pancras International station late evening.
- Day 1 Arrival Graveson
- Arrive at the delightful Moulin d’Aure hotel on the edge of Graveson. After settling in to your attractive room, take time to explore the grounds and relax by the pool before dinner. In July and August your first hotel is the charming 4 star Hostellerie Magnaniere at Villevneuve d'Avignon.
- Day 2 Graveson to Collias - 25 miles (40km)
- It is a level ride to Remoulins and then you cross the river beneath the Pont du Gard on your way to the Hôtel les Castellas at Collias, which boasts a small secluded pool and a restaurant with two Michelin stars. From Villeneuve des Avignon the first 4 kms on main road before reaching the quiet country lanes that take you on to Collias.
- Day 3 Collias to Tarascon - 29 miles (46.4km)
A short sharp climb before taking quiet lanes through the vineyards of the Costières de Nîmes and past the bull-ring in Redessan to Beaucaire and cross the River Rhône into Tarascon. After exploring one or both of these bustling riverside towns, it is just a short ride south for two nights at the Mas des Comtes de Provence, a first class Chambre d’Hôte with pool.
- Day 4 Day trip from Tarascon - 10-20 miles (16-32km)
- Today we propose a short ride to historic Arles with its Roman amphitheatre, or take the local train from Tarascon to Nîmes.
- Day 5 Tarascon to St Rémy (Valmouriane) - 21 miles (33.6km)
- After visiting the Olive ‘Boutique’ at the Château d’Estoublon climb to les Baux en Provence for lunch in this charming medieval village before descending to St Rémy and the Domaine de Valmouriane, situated in peaceful countryside.
- Day 6 Day trip from Valmouriane - 8-24 miles (12.8-38.4km)
- A short circuit through St Rémy to seek out the haunts of Van Gogh or visit the Roman sanctuary of Glanum. Alternatively you could take a more challenging 24 mile ride across the Alpilles to Maussane and Eygalières.
