Rail Travel

Outward: Depart St Pancras International station, change at Lille Europe, arrive Avignon late afternoon. Taxi transfer to hotel not included (20 minutes, about 25€).

Return: Transfer to Avignon station included, change trains at Lille Europe, arrive St Pancras International station late evening.

  • Day 1 Arrival Graveson
    • On arrival in Provence relax at the pretty 2-star hotel in Graveson, just to the south of Avignon. This is the perfect opportunity to relax by the pool, before cycling begins. HB
  • Day 2 Graveson to Beaucaire - 27 miles (43.2km)
    • Head north to Barbentine before turning west to cross the Rhône into Aramon. Then through the medieval villages of Théziers and Montfrin before looping through Jonquières- St-Vincent to reach historic Beaucaire. There is a short flat option direct from Graveson through Tarascon and over the river into Beaucaire. Hôtel Robinson provides the perfect setting for your evening meal at this 3-star hotel. HB
  • Day 3 Day trip from Beaucaire - 10-20 miles (16-32km)
    • Explore the many canals, stopping off at the port of Beaucaire, and the typical Provençal village of Vallabrègues. Extend the journey to visit the Abbey of St Michel de Frigolet before returning via the Celtic village of Aramon. HB
  • Day 4 Beaucaire to Fontvieille - 10 miles (16km)
    • This relatively easy journey from Beaucaire to Fontvieille takes you back across the Rhône and through orchards. Take in the sights of the historic town of Tarascon. Or, a longer jaunt south will take you past paddy fields before picking up the Sète canal towpath. Your 3-star hotel is on the edge of this charming Provençal town with a meal in one of the choice of local restaurants. B&B
  • Day 5 Day trip from Fontvieille - 10-20 miles (16-32km)
    • Today you have the opportunity for a leisurely spin to the village of Paradou, or to cover another 10 miles (mostly flat) to reach the wetlands of St Martin de Crau where migratory birds are in abundance. B&B
  • Day 6 Fontvieille to Graveson - 20 miles (32km)
    • The journey back to Graveson takes in the spectacular rock formations of Les Baux de Provence where buildings are carved into the white limestone. Now you can freewheel down to the artistic village of St Rémy before pedalling across the fields back to Graveson. HB
