- Broom covered hills surround Villefort, a charming quiet granite built town, which nestles at the bottom of a steep valley. The 2-star Hôtel Balme is a delightful old-fashioned family-run hotel with an excellent chef.
- Day 2 Villefort to Cubières - 11 miles (17.6km)
- Much of today’s walk is spent on woodland tracks following the GR 68 walking route. You will pass through pretty hilltop villages, with frequent panoramic views - your camera will be an essential item today!
- Day 3 Day trip from Cubières - 6 miles (9.6km)
Enjoy a circular route to the village of Le Bleymard, typical of this area and home to several old silk workshops. The industry has faded now, but there are still clues including the large number of mulberry bushes!
- Day 4 Cubières to Pont de Montvert - 11 miles (17.6km)
- An excellent day of walking up on to the rocky plateau. The walk down into the Tarn valley and the pretty village of Pont de Montvert is very rocky underfoot, and takes in some of the famous “Stevenson Trail”.
- Day 5 Day trip from Pont de Montvert - 5 miles (8km)
- Today, walk through a steep-sided ravine and across a boulder strewn plateau, taking you up the quiet lanes to L’Hermet, a picturesque hamlet overlooking the Tarn valley.
- Day 6 Pont de Montvert to Villefort - 10 miles (16km)
- The taxi transfer takes you to start your walk at Le Mas de la Barque and you follow the hills with panoramic views to Villefort.
