Rail Travel

Outward: Depart St Pancras International, change in Paris or Lille for TGV to Strasbourg, change in Strasbourg for Barr arriving late afternoon. Transfer to hotel 15 mins on foot.

Return: Depart Barr, change trains in Strasbourg for TGV, change trains in Paris or Lille, arrive St Pancras International early evening.

  • Day 1 Arrival Barr
    • Take a train from Strasbourg to Barr about 30km southwest of Strasbourg. Explore the old town and museum before settling in at the 3-star Hôtel Hortensias, about a 10 minute walk from the station.
  • Day 2 Barr to Ottrott - 12.5 miles (20km)
    • Pass the Landsberg Castle and the ancient pagan wall as you rise up Mount St Odile. Perhaps visit the monastry descending to Ottrott with its remarkable castles. 2-star Hôtel du Moulin.
  • Day 3 Ottrott to Le Howald - 12.5 miles (20km)
    • Climb to the summit of Heidenkopf pass the castles of Kagenfels and Birkenfels to the mountain resort of Hohwald to stay at Le Petite Auberge.
  • Day 4 Le Howald to Barr - 12.5 miles (20km)
    • Pass the castles and village of Andlau and descend through vineyards to Barr and your final night back at Hôtel Hortensias.
