Rail Travel
Outward: Depart St Pancras International station, change stations in Paris, arrive Souillac early evening. Transfer to hotel included (10 mins).
Return: Taxi transfer to Souillac station included (10 mins), change stations in Paris, arrive St Pancras International station early evening.
- Day 1 Arrival Souillac
- Settle in at La Vieille Auberge, a charming, rambling 3-star hotel, set in the pretty little town of Souillac by the river Dordogne. Make the most of the hotel’s facilities - take a dip in the heated outdoor pool.
- Day 2 Souillac to Laval de Jayac - 19 miles (30.4km)
- Today’s route takes you away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist attractions as you head for the family-run 2-star Hôtel Coulier in Laval de Jayac, with time to relax by the pool before sampling some regional fare.
- Day 3 Laval de Jayac to Les Eyzies - 29 miles (46.4km)
- First stop is Saint Geniès whose golden stone building typify the Périgord, next comes the pretty village of Saint
Léon sur Vézère, an idyllic spot for refreshments, before
the last leg to Les Eyzies. Two nights at the tranquil 2-star
Hôtel de France - find time to dip in the welcoming pool.
- Day 4 Day trip from Les Eyzies - 16 miles (25.6km)
Les Eyzies has so much to offer that you may choose to explore the cave paintings or the magnificent Grotte du Grand Roc. Or a lovely cycle trip along the river that takes in the villages of Le Bugue, Limeuil and Trémolat.
- Day 5 Les Eyzies to Vitrac - 21 miles (33.6km)
- You now leave behind the picturesque green valleys to spend time in Sarlat, a wonderful market town. Your destination is the 2-star Hôtel Plaisance at nearby Vitrac.
- Day 6 Day trip from Vitrac - 9-13 miles (14.4-20.8km)
- Head for La Roque Gageac, nestled in the cliffs on a bend in the river, then on to Beynac with its stunning château. You may want to take a detour to Domme, where a steep
climb is rewarded with stunning views. Take time to enjoy the covered, heated pool.
- Day 7 Vitrac to Souillac - 20 miles (32km)
- A pleasant journey along the shady banks of the Dordogne takes you back to Souillac, with chances to admire the châteaux of Montfort and Fénélon en route.
