Rail Travel

Outward: Depart St Pancras International station, change stations in Paris, arrive Souillac early evening. Transfer to hotel included (10 mins).

Return: Taxi transfer to Souillac station included (10 mins), change stations in Paris, arrive St Pancras International station early evening.

  • Day 1 Arrival Souillac
    • Settle in at La Vieille Auberge, a quaint 3-star hotel comprising three buildings tucked away in a quiet street. Take a dip in the pool or stroll the pretty streets of this old, pale stone-built town.
  • Day 2 Souillac to Meyronne - 9-18 miles (14.4-28.8km)
    • To reach the charming 3-star Hôtel la Terrasse you can opt to cycle along the flat and peaceful riverside or rise up on to the limestone plateau with its spectacular views. Either one immerses you in wonderful Dordogne scenery.
  • Day 3 Day trip from Meyronne - 18 miles (28.8km)
    • Take a trip out to Gluges wedged below soaring cliffs, where you might swim in the Dordogne. Stop at the idyllic village of Cressye with its watermill, once a port on the Dordogne.
  • Day 4 Meyronne to Rocamadour - 9-24 miles (14.4-38.4km)
    • Either go straight to Rocamadour and spend the day exploring this fascinating town hanging on the cliff-side or head off to the dramatic Gouffre de Padirac and its underground rivers. This really is classic Dordogne.
  • Day 5 Day trip from Rocamadour - 18 miles (28.8km)
    • Explore this intriguing town which clings to limestone cliffs and is full of little chapels, grottoes and hidden nooks. Alternatively, head off to Gramat across fragrant scrubland, a site that has been inhabited since prehistoric times.
  • Day 6 Rocamadour to Souillac - 9 miles (14.4km)
    • Visit La Cave with its amazing rock formations and underground pools and rivers. Stop at the beautiful Bel Castel with wonderful panoramas before returning to Souillac. There, you might find time to visit the National Collection of Automata and Robotic Toys!
