Rail Travel

Outward: Depart St Pancras International Station, change stations in Paris arrive Angoulême later afternoon. Hotel is within walking distance of the station.

Return: Transfer to Angoulême station (5 mins), change stations in Paris, arrive London St Pancras mid afternoon.

  • Day 1 Arrival Angoulême
    • Check in at the elegant Mercure Hôtel de France opposite Les Halles within the old Angoulême Remparts.Accommodation is B&B and close by you’ll find a labyrinth of narrow streets bustling with pavement restaurants for your evening meal or simply choose the hotel restaurant. B&B
  • Day 2 Angoulême to Asnières-sur-Nouère - 8 miles (12.8km)
    • Leaving the Angoulême suburbs a rural walk to Asnières and the Hostellerie du Maine Brun, a converted water mill estate. HB
  • Day 3 Asnières-s-Nouère to Bassac - 12 miles (19.2km)
    • You will be transferred to Le Simeux to commence today’s walk. Cross the river at Châteauneuf, then follow the GR through woodland and crossing the river into Bassac continue to the charming Hôtel l’Essille in the centre of the village. HB
  • Day 4 Bassac to Cognac - 8 miles (12.8km)
    • From Bassac continue your walk into Jarnac and perhaps visit the Maison Courvoisier before following the River Charente to the outskirts of Cognac, where you stay at Le Domaine de l’Echassier for two nights. HB
  • Day 5 Day Trip into Cognac Town - 6 miles (9.6km)
    • A short walk to explore the town and visit the famous Cognac Distilleries such as Hennessy or Rémy Martin. We include complimentary tickets to visit Hennessy Cognac. HB
  • Day 6 Day in Angoulême
    • Transfer by taxi back to Angoulême for a final night at the Hôtel de France giving time to explore this historic city. B&B
