Rail Travel (1st Class)

Outward: Depart St Pancras International station, change stations in Paris and trains in Dijon, arrive Beaune late afternoon.

Return: Depart Beaune, change trains in Dijon and stations in Paris, arrive London St Pancras International station late afternoon.

  • Day 1 Arrival Beaune
    • Arrive in Beaune for your first night at the 4 star Hôtel le Cep, in the centre of this historic wine capital.
  • Day 2 Beaune to Chagny - 20 miles (32km)
    • Collect your bicycle from our local agent near the rail station. Cycle through vineyards on quiet lanes through the wine villages of Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, and Puligny Montrachet, to Chagny and the renowned Hôtel Lameloise whose restaurant has three Michelin stars - prepare for an explosion of flavour!
  • Day 3 Chagny to Verdun-sur-les-Doubs - 20 miles (32km)
    • Follow the canalside path to Fragnes, then cross-country on quiet roads to Verdun sur les Doubs and the Hostellerie Bourguignonne where a gourmet meal is assured, one night half board. This 3-star hotel has a noted restaurant.
  • Day 4 Verdun-sur-les-Doubs to Ladoix - 25 miles (40km)
    • A ride on quiet roads cross-country and through forest takes you to the village of Ladoix Serrigny just north of Beaune for two nights at the Ermitage de Corton, a sumptuous 4-star hotel with pool.
  • Day 5 Day trip from Ladoix Serrigny - 24 miles (38.4km)
    • Head northwards through the tiny wine villages of the Cotes de Nuits before returning through Nuits St Georges.
  • Day 6 Ladoix Serrigny to Beaune
    • Head across the vineyards to Savigny les Beaune and after a saunter round the museum and possibly a Grand Cru tasting cycle over the hill into Beaune to return your bicycle and a final night at Hôtel le Cep.
