A 45 or 58 mile walk through a string of villages reading like a wine lover’s wish list, covering much of the Côtes de Beaune and Côtes de Nuits. A relatively flat region with just a few climbs the walk is easy to moderate, passing through rolling vineyards.

Outward: Depart St Pancras International, change stations in Paris, arrive Dijon. Hotel is a 5 minutes walk.

Return: 6 night option: Transfer to Chagny station included (15 mins), change trains in Dijon and stations in Paris, arrive St Pancras International station late afternoon.

  • Day 1 Arrival Dijon
    • Longstanding capital of Burgundy, Dijon still has a core of picturesque medieval streets. Your 2-star hotel is close to the station. B&B
  • Day 2 Dijon to Nuits St Georges - 11 miles (17.6km)
    • Transfer to Fixin on the Côtes de Nuits slopes. Walk south along well-worn footpaths, past historic Clos Vougeot, home to the Brotherhood of Winetasters, before descending to your 3-star Logis de France hotel. HB
  • Day 3 Nuits St Georges to Savigny les Beaune - 11 miles (17.6km)
    • A day of easy walking along quiet country lanes and across gently undulating hills, you’ll find world-class vineyards and famous names all around. HB
  • Day 4 Savigny les Beaune to Beaune - 5 miles (8km)
    • It’s a gentle walk into ancient Beaune, passing above the famous vineyards of Aloxe Corton. Your pleasant 3-star town hotel is within the city walls. B&B
  • Day 5 Beaune to Meursault - 8 miles (12.8km)
    • A small detour leads to Pommard and its 14th century cellars. Then on to the sleepy village of Meursault, one of Burgundy’s most celebrated wine villages. B&B
  • Day 6 Meursault to Chassey le Camp - 10 miles (16km)
    • You pass very close to the vineyards of Bourgogne Aligoté, then on to Santenay and a stiff climb to a ridge with good views of distant vineyards. Then descend to your final hotel (6 nights), with swimming pools and a fine restaurant. HB
  • Day 7 Chassey le Camp to Mercurey - 7 miles (11.2km)
    • A shorter walk today with two or three steep sections as you climb in and out of the valleys - with time to visit the Chateau at Rully before heading for the pretty wine village of Mercurey and the 3-star l’Hotellerie du Val d’Or. HB
  • Day 8 Mercurey to Dracy le Fort - 6 miles (9.6km)
    • Climb out of the valley with wonderful views of vineyards in every direction then head off along stony tracks and quiet lanes to a warm welcome at the 3-star Hôtel Dracy with time for a swim before another delightful meal. HB
