Rail Travel (1st Class)

Outward: St Pancras International station, change stations in Paris arrive Avignon TGV early evening. Taxi transfer to your hotel in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.

Return: Transfer to Avignon TGV train to Paris change stations arrive St Pancras International early evening. Rail travel via Lille is sometimes possible.

  • Day 1 Arrive in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue
    • centre and atop a branch of the Sorgue River, amongst antique shops and quaint restaurants and cafés. Dine in a nearby restaurant. HB
  • Day 2 Isle-sur-la-Sorgue to Gordes - 8.5 miles (13.6km)
    • Transfer to Fontaine de Vaucluse to start your walk. Head up into cedar forest before following a 300 year-old stone wall, built during the last great plague. You soon reach Gordes, listed among France’s most beautiful villages. You stay at the astonishing 5* Bastide de Gordes hotel. Picnic included. Good choice of restaurants. B&B
  • Day 3 Circuit walk from Gordes - 6.5 miles (10.4km)
    • Meander along paths through lavender and thyme-laden fields, off the beaten-track, and to Sénanque Abbey. You return to Gordes along an ancient cobbled path. Picnic included. HB
  • Day 4 Goult to Bonnieux - 7.5 miles (12km)
    • Short transfer to Goult for the start of your walk. Cross the valley and climb into the heart of Luberon to Lacoste ,with the ruined castle of the Marquis de Sade, before continuing to Bonnieux, a village made famous by Peter Mayle in his book ‘A Year in Provence’. Stay at the Maison Valvert just outside the centre of Bonnieux. B&B
  • Day 5 Day walk from Bonnieux - 8 miles (12.8km)
    • Above the town of Bonnieux you climb the slope of the petit Luberon mountain to reach the very crest. Enjoy the serenity of the cedar forest atop the mountain before returning to Bonnieux via a seldom-used path. Good choice of restaurants. B&B
  • Day 6 Bonnieux to Buoux - 8 miles (12.8km)
    • Stroll over lavender fields and through truffle oak plantations as your path meanders through the countryside. You pass centuries-old dry stone huts and impressive Provençal villas on your way to the bottom of the Aiguebrun Gorge, where you’ll find the charming Auberge de l’Aiguebrun. Picnic included. HB
  • Day 7 Buoux to Saignon - 8 miles (12.8km)
    • Follow the base of the Aiguebrun canyon to Sivergues, a tiny hamlet hidden in the mountains, and then through the lavender fields to Saignon. Stay at the stunning Auberge du Presbytère in the heart of the medieval village. Picnic included. Enjoy dinner tonight in the delightful restaurant. HB
